Michael Cusack Day

17th September 2023

Michael Cusack Day has been celebrated since 2020 at the Michael Cusack Centre to honour his birthday on 20th September 1847. It’s a wonderful community day of music, storytelling and commemoration of Michael Cusack and his wonderful legacy to the Irish people. The event is held on the nearest Sunday to the 20th September each year. In 2023.

Samhain Púca Storytelling Festival

27th Oct 2024

The annual Samhain Púca Storytelling Festival launched in 2022 to welcome the Púca to his new home at Poll a’ Phúca (“The Lair of the Púca”) at the Michael Cusack Centre. The event timing also coincides with Púca Day and the founding of the GAA by Michael Cusack on 1st November.

A fun family and community day with Halloween-themed events, the festival takes place for the third year running on Sunday 27th October 2024. Celebrating the folklore around the Púca, it has a rich programme of events ranging from the academic to children’s art.
