We welcome you to the iconic Michael Cusack Centre. Come and explore the “Heart and Soul of the GAA”, the birthplace of Michael Cusack and the GAA. Located in the centre of the award-winning Burren and Cliffs of Moher UNESCO Global Geopark, the Cusack Irish Famine-era cottage and gardens is a haven of culture and wellbeing. Expect your trip with us to take a few hours so you can fully immerse yourself in all we have to offer.

4th March – 30th October, 10am – 4pm (Last Tour), Monday – Friday.

Weekend openings for pre booked Groups Tours Only in July and August. Similar hours to above.

31st October – 1st March, 10am – 2pm (Last Tour), Monday – Friday. Best to pre-check during winter for opening times.

Getting Here

The Michael Cusack Centre is located in the heart of the Burren on the L1014, 12km south of Bell Harbour. From Corofin travel west along the R476 towards Kilfenora for approx. 7.5km. Turn right onto the R480 at Leamaneh Castle and travel north for 2.5km, turn right onto the L1014 and continue for approx. 4.5 km. The Michael Cusack Centre is on the right. Allow 30 minutes from Ennis.

Parking

The Michael Cusack Centre has parking for up to 50 cars and has parking for up to 2 large buses at a time.

Local Link is a local public transport bus service that provides the widest range of links between rural transport and national bus and rail services throughout Ireland.

From Ennis to Ballyvaughan

Relevant timetables for the area are the C5 , C7, C8, C11 & C14 serving Corofin, Kilnaboy, Kilfenora, Lisdoonvarna, Ennistymon, Carron, New Quay, Ruan, Ballyvaughan, Tubber and Boston.

From Galway to the Burren

The Burren Bus

The Burren Bus is a free bus service from Corofin to the Trail heads of each walk in the Burren National Park, 15 times a day, leaving Corofin from 9.30am until 5.00pm. The first service leaves the Burren National Park at 9.45am and runs 15 times a day until 5.15pm. The bus runs daily from May to August. Visit here or contact +353 1 8882000 for more information.

Accessibility

The Michael Cusack Centre is accessible to people of all ages, sizes and abilities. We welcome every visitor and accommodate families with small children, people with physical disabilities, including temporary or hidden disabilities, and older travellers and their companions.

The Centre is not fully wheelchair accessible but members of our staff are always at hand to help those who need assistance and we offer drivers close-up parking access to the Cusack Cottage and the Centre. We provide wheelchair-accessible toilets. We are committed to introducing an organisation-wide Accessible Improvement Programme supported by Fáilte Ireland.

Our gift shop stocks local and artisan products from the Burren as well as GAA-themed items.

These include Michael Cusack hats, pens and fridge magnets and, of course, hurleys and sliotars. We also have a range of Burren Walking guidebooks and historical books on the Irish famine.
