TOURS

School Tours

We have partnered with some of County Clare’s top attractions as part of The Burren School Tour Package so that your school tour is excellent value for money, varied, cultural and educational and, above all, a fun and memorable day trip for your students.

The Michael Cusack Centre is an ideal destination for school tours as it combines a modern holographic multimedia display with the unique experience of exploring the actual house where Michael Cusack was born. This exhibit really brings history to life.

Tour Information

The guided school tour starts in the exhibition centre and moves on through the GAA garden to the restored Irish famine era thatched Cusack Cottage. Engaging and entertaining, there will be a quiz at the end to encourage each student to listen carefully in order to win the prize.

After the cottage visit there is a choice between a guided nature walk in the superb surroundings of the Burren or a treasure hunt. The tour will conclude with the all-important quiz. The tour typically takes 60 minutes but can be shortened to meet specific needs.

  • I would really recommend this visit to any GAA enthusiast. It was humbling to visit the actual home that one of the founders of the GAA who met in Hayes’ Hotel in Thurles in 1884 grew up in and went on to found the association.
